Bebo should feel like a place you are in control of. This page explains the tools available and how to use them.

Controlling who sees you

Profile visibility. In Settings, choose whether your profile is visible to everyone, to buddies only, or hidden from search.

Per-item audience. Every bulletin, photo album and blog has its own audience control: public, buddies, or only me.

Whiteboard and guestbook. Choose who may draw or write: everyone, buddies, or nobody.

Online status. You can hide when you were last active.

Blocking and muting

Blocking someone removes them from your profile, your feed, your search results and your inbox, and prevents them from contacting you again. They are not told. Muting is quieter: you stop seeing them, but nothing else changes.

Reporting

Use Report on any post, photo, reel, comment, profile, message, listing or advert. Tell us briefly what is wrong. Reports go to a moderator, not to the person you reported, and you can track the outcome on your reports page.

Advice for parents and carers

Bebo is for people aged 13 and over, and some features have an 18+ age gate. If your child uses Bebo:

Set the profile to buddies only and turn off search visibility.

Go through the buddy list together and remove people they have never met.

Agree that nothing identifying — school uniform, house number, live location — goes in a public post.

Show them where the block and report buttons are before they need them.

Protecting your account

Use a password you do not use anywhere else, and change it immediately if you think someone else has it. We will never ask you for your password, and no message from Bebo will ask you to send payment details in a chat.

Recognising scams

Be cautious of anyone who moves quickly to another app, asks for money, offers investment returns, sends a link to a login page, or claims to be from Bebo support. Report the account and block it.

Getting help off Bebo

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. For urgent support in the United Kingdom you can contact Samaritans on 116 123, or Childline on 0800 1111. If you are elsewhere, please use the equivalent national service in your country.
