Help: Getting Started on Bebo

This guide takes you from an empty account to a profile worth visiting.

Create your account

On the home page, choose Join Bebo for free, enter your email address, a display name and a password of at least eight characters, and submit. We send a confirmation email straight away — open it and follow the link. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then use Resend confirmation on the sign-in card.

Add a photo

A profile photo roughly triples the chance of a buddy request being accepted. Go to your profile, select the picture, and upload from your phone or computer. Images are resized automatically, so there is no need to crop first.

Fill in the basics

Add a short About me, your location if you are comfortable sharing it, and your school or college if you want old classmates to find you. Everything here is optional, and every field has its own audience control.

Find people you know

Search for a name or a school on the search page.

Open Discover and look at the schools section — alumni lists are the fastest way back to people you have lost touch with.

Use Find old friends on the home page to search by school and year.

When you send a buddy request, add a short note. Requests with a note are accepted far more often.

Post something

Write your first bulletin. Add a photo, choose the audience, and post. Your first post tells people the account is really you, which matters when they get your request.

Make it look like yours

Open the Skin Store and apply a skin. If nothing fits, open the Skin Studio and build one — the sizes are set for you and images are trimmed automatically.

Get notified

Allow notifications when your browser asks, so you know when someone messages you. You can turn individual notification types on or off in Settings at any time.
